God Multiplies What We Give Him

“Give and it will be given to you; a good measure–pressed down, shaken together, and running over–will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Luke 6:38

“When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus all that they had done. He took them along and withdrew privately to a town called Bethsaida. When the crowds found out, they followed Him. He welcomed them, spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and cured those who needed healing. Late in the day the Twelve approached and said to Him, ‘Send the crowd away, so they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find food and lodging, because we are in a deserted place here.’ ‘You give them something to eat,’ He told them. ‘We have no more than five loaves and two fish,’ they said, ‘unless we go and buy food for all these people.’ (For about 5,000 men were there.) Then He told His disciples, ‘Have them sit down in groups of about 50 each.’ They did so and had them all sit down. Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them. He kept giving them to the disciples to set before the crowd. Everyone ate and was filled. Then they picked up 12 baskets of leftover pieces.”

Luke 9:10-17

God does what only He can. His is a power beyond our own. Oh, how we must remember.

We often rest satisfied with our lists of accomplishments and misplaced accolades on our shoulders. Maybe we even revel in the success that is not ours to own. We too quickly forget the part we play and pick up what is not ours to carry. We forget that our power is not from human effort and let pride convince us otherwise.

We must not be deceived. Every bit of increase is His. God multiples what we lay down like only He can, and it is amazing.

We get to surrender while He imparts the difference. Everything we have and everything we do is His. What He does with what we lay at His feet is His to care for. He knows better than we could imagine. We can trust Him.

So we yield, and to Him, we run. We are to live generously, knowing that with every loaf and every fish we surrender, He can multiply. Ours is to plant His gospel and water His kingdom in His power.

God will show Himself mighty through every willing vessel and in hearts that are fully His. In these, He will strengthen what remains and fulfill His good kingdom work. He is faithful, and the glory is His.

What a joy to surrender all we have.

How freeing to trust Him for the rest.

God supplies.

God multiples.

God causes growth.

We are simple servants, and He is the Lord of the Harvest!

He must increase, and we must decrease.

He is our greatest hallelujah.

Our best is yet to come.

We’re All In.

o Thank You, God, for allowing us to plant, water, and be a part of all You do.

o Forgive us for serving in our own strength and effort and forgetting that You are in charge of all the growth and harvest.

o Help us to live fully yielded lives, declaring surrender so that we will not hinder Your gospel and kingdom work that You’ve given us.

o Give us courage as we step forward in faith into opportunities waiting.

o Help us rest in Your sufficiency so our community and world will know You alone, and You will have all the glory.
