Sacrifice for God’s Purposes Will Be Rewarded

“Peter began to tell Him, ‘Look we have left everything and followed You.’ ‘I assure you,’ Jesus said, ‘there is no one who has left house, brothers or sisters, mother or father, children, or fields because of Me and the gospel, who will not receive 100 times more, now at this time – houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions –

and eternal life in the age to come.’”

Mark 10:28-30

God knows what tomorrow holds and all our tomorrows after that. He knows far better than we do. We can trust Him for it. All that we now see in faith, we will one day see in full.

The disciples left everything to follow Jesus. God promised they would be rewarded for all they sacrificed for His kingdom. It is no different for us today.

The point of it all is the glory of God.

There are days when we see only what is in front of us. Life consumes us, and in the rat race of chaos, we forget that God’s measurements are far different from the temporary all around us.  Oh, how we need this reminder.

His call to sacrifice is His good gift to us. It grounds our perspective where it needs to be. His plan is far grander than what we see now. What is “not yet” already is, and “what is to come” stands promised. Running straight toward Him is eternally worth it.

How we live in the “here & now” matters greatly. We must lose ourselves for His sake and sprint forward, holding nothing and no one more tightly.  Though the road is not easy and the journey feels long, they are just a blink compared to the fullness of joy forever.

One day we will be home, and it will be far greater as our faith is made sight.  All we sacrificed and left behind will be worth it. Our reward will be waiting. In these treasures, we will stand in all His glory.

How can our sacrifice be anything other than our best?

How could we withhold everything He deserves?

We’re All In.

o   God, thank You for the invitation to follow You and Your willingness to sacrifice for us.

o   Forgive us for holding too tightly to people and things that matter less than You.

o   Help our eyes be on eternal and lasting values and our sacrifice be urgent.

o   Give us great opportunities to trust You in what is ahead. Help us be examples to our community and world of Your great love and faithfulness.
