Our Sacrifice to God is our True and Proper Worship
“Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2
The blood of Jesus was a one-time, all-sufficient sacrifice. No more payment for sin is necessary because Jesus paid it all and finished His work. Oh, how glorious the gospel is.
We are not required to outwardly comply or appease. Our only response is a heart yielded at His feet. Every time we consider the cross and grasp the grace displayed there, our only acceptable response, our only reasonable conclusion, is to relinquish our lives in true and proper worship.
We are the gift we get to give back.
We plead that God helps us remember. We too quickly pack up the portions of ourselves we want to give. It is effortless to give only what is easy. Before we know it, we have limited worship to fit into our schedules and find ourselves giving only part of what is meant to be whole.
We cannot afford to neglect the invitation for worship to consume our lives. God deserves all of who we are as living sacrifices yielded on His altar.
This is our only acceptable offering.
We must refuse that which will mold us in broken castings. We must run to His Word to teach us His way. We must open our hands and hearts and live undivided lives of praise.
This is our true and proper worship.
This is our sacrifice in light of His.
We lay ourselves down. We get to worship with our very lives. Ours is the joy to live in reply to all He has accomplished. Let’s not waste any time getting started.
How can we give anything less than our best?
How could we withhold everything He deserves?
We’re All in.
o Thank you for Your sacrifice that leads our way. Help us yield all of who we are in response to what You have done for us.
o Help us live our lives in genuine response and ongoing worship to You.
o Forgive us for giving back to You only pieces of our hearts instead of the whole.
o Allow us to be living sacrifices so others may see You and all You are worth.
o Help us depend on Your strength and Your love, and Your example.
