Investment in God’s Word is Investment in Eternal Treasure

“Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is,

there your heart will be also.”

Matthew 6:19-21

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.”

Matthew 24:35

Our hearts have a throne. Who or what we allow to reign there reveals what we value the highest…a window to what we pursue. Distracted lives with divided hearts accomplish nothing. This reminder is crucial in a world dangling with trinkets that glitter and then fade.

God and His Word are worth pursuing. Investing our time, talents, and treasures harvests an eternal dividend we cannot yet fathom. He belongs on the throne of our hearts. When He sits there, His Word is supreme, and His ways are what we pursue.

As stewards, we are accountable for what is not our own. We must utilize the blink of a day to store up lasting treasure. All we have is already His. Ours is the joy to loosen our grip, lift our eyes, and find in God Himself the riches far greater than any we imagine. His is a power beyond our own.

Moth-eaten garments and piles of rust shout all around us that the things of this world are passing away. They do not carry forward to the eternity which is ours. We labor for far more than we see, for treasures not of this world. Our days are like grass and quickly fading but God never will.

How vital that we fix our eyes heavenward.

Investing in God’s Word, in His purpose and kingdom, brings gain stretching far into eternity.  One day our reward in Him will be whole, and our earthly days no more. There, we will behold Him. There, we will lay all of our riches right back at His feet.

Until that day, let’s refuse to bury His good gift, so glory falls into place right where it belongs.

Our Master has given us all we have.

Who are we to withhold anything from Him?

We’re All in.

o   We praise You, God, for Your faithful Word that stands now and throughout eternity.

o   Help us invest our time, talent, and treasure to proclaim Your Word.

o   Give us heavenward eyes now to bask in Your work and ways.

o   Help us to be faithful with Your Word so that You can have all the glory, and our community and world can know who You are and all You have done.
