We are Stewards of God’s Word
“Proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and
encourage with great patience and teaching.”
2 Timothy 4:2
Paul exhorts Timothy to guard the treasure entrusted to him and to proclaim the message with great patience, whether convenient or not. This call rings loudly still today.
As stewards, we are accountable for what is not our own. God has entrusted His Word to us so we care for it well.
It’s impossible to fully grasp this great responsibility. Even more, we do not fully grasp the privilege that it is ours to carry. Paul’s sounding charge to Timothy quickens our courage, once more, toward our great responsibility.
We must value God’s Word. We must view it correctly. Standard does not bow to human opinion or what culture says is best. We must proclaim it with great care. Hope persists, whether the road is easy or not.
The charge stands mighty, and the need is profound. All around us, ears hear what they choose to hear. God’s Word shouts the beacon of truth. We stand on it, and by it, and we plead for God to shine in the darkest places. His is a power beyond our own.
God has entrusted His Word to us. We must share what He has given with great patience, stewarding His good gift well so that our walk portrays what our words proclaim.
Sleepy, defeated lives are ineffectual. We were meant to live boldly, defending the faith in a wavering world. The baton is ours for our time and season. Paul stewarded the message well, fought the good fight, and finished the race. May it also be said of us.
Until that day, let’s refuse to bury His good gift, so glory falls into place right where it belongs.
Our Master has given us all we have.
Who are we to withhold anything from Him?
We’re All in.
o We praise You, God, for Your Word and the urgent responsibility to steward it well.
o Forgive us for our apathy and times of neglect, and help us greatly proclaim Your Word.
o We pray that You will protect Your Word and help us accurately handle it as we guard the treasure You entrust to us.
o Help us proclaim Your message when it is easy and when it is not.
o Help our lives match our words so that through us, our community and world might hear and know of Your great love that alone meets their very great need.
